I am so excited for Mardi Gras this year. This festive celebration is all about music, parades, picnics, floats and excitement. It’s one big holiday in New Orleans, but you don’t have to live in the big easy to partake in the celebration!
Throw your own Mardi Gras Party and celebrate with your friends and family with this delicious hurricane punch bowl! I have partnered with Solo Cup to toast with this festive cocktail to celebrate Fat Tuesday!
What is in a hurricane punch bowl?
The standard hurricane cocktail is made up of the following:
In my hurricane punch bowl, we’re replacing the passion fruit syrup with blood orange syrup, just because i’m over the moon for this gorgeous fruit! You still get that gorgeous layering that is beautifully displayed in Solo’s 18 oz Eco-Forward clear plastic cup!
How do you make a hurricane punch bowl?
Start by slicing Blood oranges, lemons, and limes for a pretty garnish for the top of the bowl.
Next, combine all of your ingredients in the bowl:
- 16 ounces of red fruit punch
- 16 ounces blood orange juice
- 6 oz frozen limeade concentrate, thawed
- 6 oz frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
- 1 2/3 cups light rum
- 1 2/3 cups dark rum
- Ice
Sir to combine. Place Blood orange, lime and lemon slices, maraschino cherries on op of the bowl as a garnish. If you want to be really fancy, create an ice mold with the citrus slices on top. Let the water and citrus freeze solid in a bundt pan and place it in your hurricane punch bowl!
To create a beautiful layered effect in your cocktail, add a dash of blood orange syrup to your clear Solo cup! How pretty are those colors?
No matter how you celebrate, do it responsibly!
